In Mare and Play Low, choreographer Sylvia Bazzarelli tells the stories of the past and captures the compulsions of modern life using the movement of amazing Brazilian fight dance Capoeira. In Mare, a worker in a South American industrial landscape dreams of bygone days. Ghosts from an ancestral experience invade reality, taking us on a surreal journey to the dangerous heart of the Quilombos, where beauty turns heavy with threat. In Play Low, people are searching, speeding, ducking and diving, following the yet unknown ultimate satisfaction. Play Low captures and explores these emotions using daring fight and play techniques before coming towards an expression of acceptance and closure.
