Print Room Associate Artist Hubert Essakow returns to The Print Room to present the third in his trilogy of high quality dance pieces inspired by the elements. Following on from sell out productions Flow; which explored the unique properties and different states of water, and revealed the dynamic relationship of mankind to this essential element, the most valuable of commodities and Ignis, which took inspiration from the powerful and potent qualities of fire, Terra considers the nature of migration and the human response and relationship with the earth we explore and inhabit. Hubert's choreography seeks to express the inner life of human relationships. The metaphors that physical environments provide for human emotions offer a valuable parallel. Beginning with earth metaphors - solidity, rootedness, home, Terra explores what happens when those certainties disappear. Migration, exile and refuge provide thematic framework for narratives of human relationships.
