A Night with Priya Pawar
Internationally renowned Priya Pawar is a leading exponent of the Northern Indian Classical dance form, kathak and odissi folk dance. This evening Priya will perform pieces that show-off the range of her dance expertise. First, Priya will be performing her famous 'Kathak-Flamenco' accompanied by the eminent Rosandra Doling. To begin, each dancer will establish the classic Indian and Spanish dance forms separately before fusing the two forms through fluid movements and uplifting beats. The second part will be 'The Flute', a devised dance-drama piece, based on the epic Dhagavad Gita and featuring live musicians. The performance will be preceded by a short showcase by young people from Brentford School for Girls, who have been developing kathak dance skills during an intensive project with Priya since the New Year.
