Rambert Dance Company - Rooster and Other Works archiveBritain's biggest and most exciting touring dance company who often tour two programmes at a time. Dancing to a mixture of musical styles they provide enormously watchable evenings. Britain's national dance company makes its long-awaited return to Birmingham, bringing the rock'n'roll swagger of the Rolling Stones to life in Rooster. Sharp-suited, snake-hipped men and strong, sassy women perform virtuoso courtship dances to some of the Stones' most famous tunes, including Not Fade Away, Paint It Black, Sympathy for the Devil and Little Red Rooster. One of Rambert's all-time best loved works, Christopher Bruce's celebration of the swinging sixties tops the bill in a programme which also includes Frames, a sculpturally beautiful work by Alexander Whitley, who is acclaimed as one of dance's hottest properties. The programme is completed by the world premiere of Transfigured Night, a love story choreographed by two-time Olivier Award-winner Kim Brandstrup to Schoenberg's achingly beautiful score, played live.
