Twin Suite 2/Hurricane/Ground Level Overlay/The Celebrated Soubrette

Twin Suite 2 - Performed to the pulsating rhythms of Aphex Twin, eight dancers immerse themselves in frenetic but exquisitely crafted movement, in which tense, edgy duets give way to exhilarating physical expression. Twin Suite 2 is a distinctive and individual work performed with attitude. Hurricane - Bruce's dramatic work for a solo dancer is performed to Bob Dylan's song of the same title. Hurricane tells the story of Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter, a black American boxer who was framed and imprisoned on a triple murder charge. After serving 20 years, he was finally cleared of all the charges and released. Ground Level Overlay - Created using the computer programme, LifeForms, this work must rank as one of Cunningham's finest. In it, beautiful sculptural formations emerge from blasts of activity and moments of calm stillness. Performed to a soundtrack of ten trombones, recorded in an enormous empty underground water tank, the music is enhanced by live musicians. The Celebrated Soubrette - takes 12 dancers on a tawdry journey through the glitz and grime of Las Vegas showbiz. This bitter-sweet snapshot into the life of a chorus-girl is decadent mixture of soul-searching and sequins, as rivals jostle one another for the limelight. It is performed to a highly entertaining score, inspired by the compositions of that larger than life American icon, Liberace. Running time 2 hours 10 minutes including 2 intervals (Nov 17th 1 hour 15 mins including 1 interval). Family matinee Saturday November 17th at 15:00 (Twin Suite and Grinning In Your Face only.
