Remote Dancing
T0
Remote Dancing has been created by renowned dancer/choreographer Rosemary Lee and artist Nic Sandiland with music composed by Graeme Miller. Video projection and dance combine in a new installation. Entitled 'Remote Dancing the simple but ingenious concept allows viewers to experience their own compelling and unique dancing partnership. The viewer enters a corridor alone to find a virtual dancing partner hovering in anticipation at the far end, waiting for the spectator to react. As they move towards or away from the image, the viewer effectively 'scratches the dance video back and forth, faster and slower so that a duet unfolds as they become both partner and choreographer. Journeying through the corridors the viewer will be able to encounter a total of six dancers ranging in age from young to old. Accompanied by their own especially composed soundtrack each dancer moves from a void space into the landscape before eventually disappearing out of their partners reach.
