Marguerite Galizia/Joel O'Donoghue and Pete Yelding/Protocol Dance Company - T01265919281

Where am I? - Inspired by Daniel Dennett's thought experiment, this is a comic and existential mind-bender. Featuring dancer/performer Daniel Watson trapped in a 'talking space', where he wrestles with some serious questions about consciousness. Dragging Words - This piece was originally about nothing. Pete and Joel came together and wanted to make something that included dance, music and theatre. Their philosophy was to try and make something that interested both of them. Pete taught Joel how to sing (a bit), and Joel taught Pete a small movement phrase. They only began to think of it as piece after all the material was made. They began to understand who they were to one another within the work, and divide their work into these short strange stories. This is their take on the quirks of London city life. Manhood - This hip-hop dance theatre company presents a deep and vivid exploration into the physiological undercurrents of what being a man in the world we live in means. New Tapestry/Mara Vivas/.2Dot - T0753378275

Potatoes & Sauce - Exploring the normal of the bizarre and the love at the end. Coma dreams and everyday conversations translated into contemporary circus through poetic aerial work. I was swimming in a pool. The water was warm and it felt good. Then I noticed a gigantic mustache that had grown under my nose. Why hadn't I noticed before? I didn't care about the pain I just wanted it off my face. I don't even know why. Finally I managed to rip it off and I could swim calmly again. Merging text from coma-dreams with aerial language, Potatoes & Sauce explores the direct connection between the physical treatment of a body in coma and dream images that occur. Despite their bizarreness these dreams come to make absolute sense. Triptych - This piece explores memory. Can something experienced in the 'here and now' provoke memories from the past? The performers shift from the being with and for each other to being self-absorbed and wrapped up in themselves. The work is a development of a solo into a trio. In the solo a woman explores memory and it's impact on perception of space. The title of the piece 'Triptych' is from the Greek t??pt???? meaning ?thr"three-fold". Triptych art is made up of three panels that are intended to be displayed together. There are no real rules in Triptych. Anything goes. The piece explores memory. Can something experienced in the 'here and now' provoke memories from the past? The performers shift from being with and for each other to being self-absorbed, wrapped up in themselves. I'm Sorry You're Leaving - They all have memories, some of them stuck better than others. But the 80s is what they all remember links their stories. They all have memories, some of them stuck better than others. But the 80s is what they all remember, and that is what links their stories. Efecto Chopped/Red Road Dance Theatre/Humanah Productions - T996133641

Cul de Sac - A contemporary circus piece. Using Juggling and Chinese pole, the two performers constantly aim to break the boundaries between opposites in order to reach a common place, from where an intense dialogue emerges. Efecto Chopped is an emerging Contemporary Circus Company based in London. Both Spanish, Gemma and Jose graduated at the National Centre for Circus Arts and their paths crossed while they shared studio space. After graduating they have been searching for different approaches to circus vocabulary using a range of similar artistic languages. They came to the conclusion that they hold the same understanding of performances and so decided to join up as a team, sharing skills: Jose as an individual and creative juggler and Gemma as a strong, graceful chinese pole artist. Cul de Sac is born from that need to fuse both skills. The Sense of an Ending (excerpt) - Through honest, exposing and poignant dance theatre, the production represents women of the North by sharing their true stories of how they chose to survive life changing moments. Obstruct & Connect - This work uses contact improvisation as a method to conduct a kinaesthetic conversation. It explores the outcomes that occurs when one person stops responding or initiating a dialogue. atma-graha - Attachment: Affection, fondness or sympathy for someone or something. Attachment can be both transient and permanent. Throughout our lives we form attachments to objects, people, ideas, places and moments. What happens when that bond of attachment is broken? This piece explores different types of instinctive and interactive patterns of attachment behaviour, through the medium of story telling, physical theatre, contact improvisation and text. Cymatics - Cymatics is the scientific study of visible sound typically demonstarated using a thin plate with a speaker underneath. Flour or water is spread on the plate and different geometrical shapes occur depending on the frequency. Anecdotal Evidence/Patricia Zafra/The Company - T447840793

Speak Up - When 37 protests worldwide between 2006 - 2013 had in excess of 1 million participants we ask who's talking- and who's listening? Speak Up uses elements of verbatim theatre alongside dance questioning to what extent we feel we have a voice in today's society? Interviews with a range of ages, nationalities and experiences feature in this piece of docu-dance, an up-to-the-minute account of the value of speaking up. Underneath the Skin - We are what we do, we are what we suffer. A metamorphosis; a physical and emotional journey that two people experience and causes an abrupt change in their lives. Zion - We are in a constant state of conspiracy... or yet that's what the character at the end of your street preaches. The truth is much more frightening - nobody is in control! Dance styles blur in the work Jane Doe. Hip hop and contemporary dance litter the evening, however Lee Griffiths' The Company beautifully melds these two styles to produce a uniquely original piece. Faultlessly, The Company explore Isabel Allende's quotation ?a man does what he can, a woman does what a man cannot'. A frenetic mood pervades the performance as the five male dancers appear to be struck by an internal struggle. Their bodies' spasm and jerk irrepressibly as if fuelled by a terrible angst. With no restraints, the dancers throw themselves across the stage, their bodies nimble and erratic but professionally controlled. Although a gruelling piece, the boys pierce their movement with an ardency which enhances the choreography. Even the smaller movement enthrals. The innovative choreography and the sheer talent that each dancer holds fuses to create an impressive piece that stuns the audience into captivation, but also surpasses all other acts of the night. Rachel Dean/Jyoti Dance/Adam Foster and Susan Kempster - T190590013

Wolf - An invitation to wilfully stray into the fascination, hunger and fear of a fairytale so familiar it runs through us like a current. Wolf, Grandmother and Girl flicker, emerge and retreat in an unsettling dance played out in the body of exceptional performer Rachel Dean. An immersive and sensual solo which embraces the complexities and fluidities at the heart of each of us. Live sound score by accomplished improviser Seth Bennett on double bass, and haunting live vocals. Holi Woman - The Holi Woman dwells between Eastern and Western notions of ritual and beauty. Choreographer Jodie Cole explores the ethereal thread that links the two. India, a country of ritual, colour, chaos and contradictions. Britain, a land of riches and achievement, depression affecting a fifth of the population. The dilution of ritual in the West, stripped to yearly celebrations of birthdays, perhaps marking one's death or a union of love, in contrast to the daily devotional, and potentially meaningless, myriad of collective rituals of India. I find myself caught between the two; a sense of wonder and a rooted nihilism. This solo explores the possible unity between the two, a golden thread we perhaps bury deep below ritualistic ceremonies and unconscious habits. Snow -Performer Rachel Dean (Wolf). Company Jyoti Dance (Holi Woman). Choreographer Jodie Cole (Holi Woman). Author Adam Foster (Snow). Choreographer Susan Kempster (Snow).

AniCo./Zosia Jo/Urban Interface Dancer UK - T681503056

Our Physical Intentions - Delving into the way daily occurrences affect our mental and physical state. This piece explores a chain-like process that can be broken down into three stages: Situation - Interpretation - Emotional/Physical Reaction (ABC). The way we interpret the world makes a huge difference to how we react. Our thoughts can create a magnified reflection of themselves in the form of an emotion, the thought feeds energy to the emotion, which in-turn energises the thought, and a vicious cycle builds up. By shifting our interpretation, we can subsequently alter our emotional/ physical state. The piece brings together notions of the mental and emotional control and our ability to reach a present state. Herstory - A love story that is at once true and untrue, personal and universal. Lo-Giudice Dance/Salah El Brogy Company/#PPL Dance Company - T1728005557

The Teeth behind the Kisses - Exploring the interwoven notions of ecstasy, desire and rapture that have pioneered some of history's most prolific characters. Soulless and soulful, the work conjures up a Danse Macabre with living bodies. Inspired by time spent with artist Hector De Gregorio and his study on the theme of ecstasy. Seven performers physically interpret documents on ecstasy, violence and the extreme experiences of life. With elements of divine and terrestrial, quiet and rapturous, extreme love and extreme pain. How are the most intense intermissions in our life interlinked to generate our most supreme states of elation and pain? Following Resolution!, Anthony and the artists will be travelling to Norway, Stockholm, France and the Czech Republic. The Race - A personal observation of humanity's ugly side in which despite possession of emotional intelligence, the rules of the jungle still very much apply. ...A Kid That Grows Up - A gripping tale of an individual's journey to manhood. Inspired by cinematic visuals and driven by their fusion of street and contemporary dance, this company depicts the saga that is 'coming of age'. Feeling the pressures of growing up without a father, the boy finds himself on a journey of self discovery that leads him to unpick some of his deepest frustrations and face his biggest challenge yet. The Ashes: Dance Collective/Ella Mesma Company/The House of Strays - T803597414

The Dancing Plague - Under the surface of the skin hides an idea older than time. Parasitic. It waits. It strikes - a frenzy of dance - a body hijacked. Can the dancers keep up? A new work by a new collective, formed of ex Phoenix Dancers: Phil Sanger, Azzurra Ardovini and Josh Wille. Inspired by an epidemic that caused thousands of people to dance until dropping dead of exhaustion or ecstasy, The Dancing Plague is a hard hitting, poignant and at times funny account of a relentless mass hysteria. To a haunting and original score by Caterina McEvoy, the three dancers, joined also by Carrieanne Vivianette, pulse and jerk on bloodied feet towards their own demise. Be infected. Orixas - Inspired by Afro-Cuban deities to represent love, pursuit, passion, and loss through the voyage of four individuals. Four strong females, four elements and four colours swirl, swoop, saunter and soar together. Orixas is inspired by the stories of four women and four orixas (deities). Oxum, a beautiful goddess of fresh waters who represents sexuality and love. Oya, the hurricane warrior of the underworld, transitions and chaos. Ogun, the god of war, iron, hunting and community. Oxossi, the hunter, shaman and god of nature. Each orixa, and woman, has their own hopes, fears, angers and desires in life and in their relationships. After the Flood - Three sisters were left after the Great Flood had abated. Unbeknownst to them, their spiralling degeneration into chaos pulls with it a creature from grace. DIPTIK/PINCH/Beautiful Confusion & Interregnum V - T921742522

Diptik#1 - DIPTIK is blurring the boundaries between dance and music. In an exciting cross-art piece, our performers explore their interpretation of the score both with movement and sound. Choreographed by Katarzyna Witek and composed by Elliot Galvin, this will be a piece of a new and exciting genre, exploring the relationship between the score and the performers, showing how the same signs can be interpreted both in sound and in movement. Musicians and dancers will react to each other intimately, intertwining themselves - musicians pushing the limits of sound while moving, dancers creating and exploring sound as they move. Asking for It - This is a journey into the expression and treatment of female sexuality in contemporary British culture, as two sets of women seek to find the best version of themselves. A piece of dance theatre, Asking For It looks at what it means to come into your fullest potential. Explored through a journey into the expression, treatment and experience of female sexuality in contemporary British culture, told from the perspective of two sets of women. We explore how our relationship to our sexuality impacts on the way people treat themselves and each other. BackStories - Through a series of solos and duets, we explore the expressivity of the back; its capacity to store and articulate personal and social histories. Ishimoi by Ishimwa/Anders Duckworth/Suse Tietjen - T01366281266

Niyizi - What if a dress is all you need to express or impress? What if a pair of blue socks is all the make-up you need? Niyizi looks at why we cling on to particular ideas and how they make us feel. Projected - Two characters seem to have emerged from another world, the world of celluloid. Seeing their projected memories realised unearths questions of what is 2D or 3D, fantasy or reality. An exciting collaboration between Anders Duckworth and the sound artist Chris Edwards, Projected draws inspiration from our brief relationship with the celluloid image and our ability to be able to understand a string of still images as a real universe. Anders works with dancers Jenna Broas and Eleni Papaioannou to turn the projected image into a reality. The End Is Important in All Things - a collection of two short stories about curious interhuman relations and deathly ways of procreation in the animal kingdom. As the audience will find themselves reminded of dauntingly familiar scenes from their personal lives and from the bushes of their backyard garden, the boundaries between human and animal behaviour will coalesce to become a non-linear arrangement of dance and theatre, suggesting that to make an end is to make a beginning (T.S.Eliot). Duration: 90minsChoreographer Ishimwa (Niyizi). Choreographer Anders Duckworth (Projected). Choreographer Suse Tietjen (The End Is Important in All Things).
