Richard Alston, Artistic Director of The Place, the UK's leading centre for contemporary dance, is internationally recognised as one of the most influential and inspiring choreographers in British dance. In the specially revived Overdrive, Alston takes up the pulsating rhythm of modern Californian composer Terry Riley's music and runs with it to the wire. A brand new piece by Martin Lawrance is inspired by the romantic composer Franz Liszt, without doubt a real contrast to last year's Madcap.
