Richard Alston Dance Company - Red Run/A Sudden Exit/Rumours Visions archiveContemporary dance. Richard Alston, Artistic Director of The Place, the UK's leading centre for contemporary dance, is internationally recognised as one of the most influential and inspiring choreographers in British dance. Red Run, set to a jazz-influenced score by the cult German composer Heiner Goebbels. A Sudden Exit, a dance about deep affection, explores the pain of abrupt departure, set to Brahms's haunting late piano music (opus 118). Rumours, Visions completes the spring repertory; it is an impassioned interpretation of Benjamin Britten's song cycle Les Illuminations dealing with the intense love life and nightmarish hallucinations of the poet Rimbaud.
