Richard Alston Dance Company - Such Longing/Fever/Brisk Singing archiveContemporary dance. Richard Alston, Artistic Director of The Place, the UK's leading centre for contemporary dance, is internationally recognised as one of the most influential and inspiring choreographers in British dance. Such Longing is set to the beautiful meditations of Chopin's Nocturnes and Etudes, played live. Filled with melancholy and sad longing for his Polish homeland, this is Chopin in lyrical and introspective mood. Fever takes as its inspiration vocal pieces by the late Renaissance composer Claudio Monteverdi. Flowing with liquid sensuality, Monteverdi's glorious madrigals speak of heartache and desire, seduction and pleasure. Also present is Brisk Singing inspired by some of the most joyous music ever written for dance.
