Contemporary dance. Richard Alston, Artistic Director of The Place, the UK's leading centre for contemporary dance, is internationally recognised as one of the most influential and inspiring choreographers in British dance. Unfinished Business is danced to Mozart's beautiful and flowing unfinished piano sonata Opus K533, and Gigue in D, accompanied by a live pianist. In Buzzing Round the Hunnisucle, Alston combines two contrasting pieces of music by Kondo in a dance of nimble and breathtaking precision. The bill is completed by a revival of Rumours, Visions, Alston's interpretation of Britten's song cycle, Les Illuminations, set to the poems of radical Arthur Rimbaud, in Britten's centenary year.
