The Four Seasons and Coppelia
Coppelia is the story of life in an Eastern European village. Swanhilda loves Franz, a local ‘Jack the Lad’. Their story of jealously and love threads through the ballet. Franz thinks Coppelia is a real person and flirts with her. Dr Coppelius, an eccentric inventor, loves clockwork dolls and is treated badly by the village girls and boys but all ends happily in Act 3.
