On the first Saint Patrick's Day of the new Millennium, we trace the origins of Irish Dance from its early days. From dancing on the barn door and at the cross-roads to the dance floors and great arena of the world. Few dance forms in the last decade have experienced the renaissance that Irish Dance has, with boundaries being pushed yet further in the search for new ground. However, many of the original dances and doctrines still remain.
