Spring 2012 sees Scottish Dance Theatre's final tour with Janet Smith as Artistic Director as she leaves to become Principal of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Premiering a new work,
Pavlova's Dogs by Rachel Lopez de la Nieta, alongside a programme of shorter works, the spring tour celebrates the diversity of work the company has produced with Janet at the helm. SDT's new work
Pavlova's Dogs by Rachel Lopez de la Nieta places the dancers on stage as test subjects. Using speech and repetition, Rachel will make you question what you see when you watch the dancers on stage. We recommend that some of the themes and language used in this work are suitable for people over age of 16. The rest of the progamme contains no less than four short works, some of which celebrate the talent within the company; All in the Grip by Natalie Trewinnard, and
Love Games by Joan Cleville along with
Drift, an intensely physical piece by James Wilton; and Idan Cohen's animalistic
My Sweet Little Fur.
