User Review: 28Oct04: SPIRIT OF BROADWAY 27 October 2004 From the same production company that brought us "Spirit of the Dance" now currently touring the UK after a successful engagement in the USA "Spirit of Broadway" hit town at the Alexandra Theatre Birimingham last night. From the opening number "We're in the money" from "42nd Street" through all things musical and dance both old and new the energetic cast gave it 100%. The principals shone brightly although sadly no cast details were provided. This was a real team effort and the casts enthusiasm for the material soon got the audience clapping away to the music. The choreography was excellent with routine after routine filling the stage and the audience loved it. The costumes sparkled and the lighting set them off effectively. The sound was excellent and every word could be heard. A cast of at least 22 artists entertained a good sized audience and certainly confirmed the popularity of the Broadway Musical with all age groups here in Birmingham. Highspots were the Act 1 closer "Rocky Horror", "Memory" from "Cats", "Grease" and the finale to Act 2 "Give My Regards to Broadway". On tour throughout November so if it's near you, go and see it! Running time 2 hours including interval.
