A Sacred Thread

A fabulously layered fabric of Kathak dance, narratives and new age music retells the story of two women from the 16th and 18th centuries - Mira and Amrita. One born rich and the other born humble; one wedded to God, the other wedded to nature - both fiercely in love and both pay the price for their beliefs. A Sacred Thread is performed to new music specially composed by Pandit Birju Maharaj and played live by Yogesh Samsi on tabla, Surjeet Singh on sarangi with vocals by Chandra Chakravarti.
