The BalletBoyz archiveMichael Nunn and William Trevitt - former dancers with The Royal Ballet - founded their all-male company Balletboyz in 2000. The company has since won multiple awards and has produced several acclaimed television projects, including The Rough Guide to Choreography (Channel 4), The Royal Ballet in Cuba (More4) and Balletboyz: The Rite of Spring (BBC Three), as well as creating the digital work for Christopher Wheeldon's Electric Counterpoint (The Royal Ballet). Following BalletBoyz recent sellout and critically acclaimed UK tour of the Talent 2013, the company is to celebrate the opening of the new BalletBoyz studio and homebase in Kingston with a special gala performance. The Rose Theatre show promises to be chockfull of entertainment and surprises; celebrating the twelve years since BalletBoyz were co-founded by Artistic Directors Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, the star studded evening will features excerpts of works commissioned by them over the years from choreographers including Russell Maliphant, Christopher Wheeldon, Liv Lorent, Paul Roberts, Jarek Cemerek, and Liam Scarlett. The BalletBoyz own all-male company, the Talent, will perform some audience favourites and joining the company onstage will be singer/songwriter, Keaton Henson, whose music was used in the 2010 piece Alpha. The major coup of the evening is a return to the stage of Nunn and Trevitt themselves! They will perform an extract from the first ever piece they danced as BalletBoyz in 2001 ? Critical Mass by Russell Maliphant. It marks the first time these celebrated ex-dancers have performed publicly since 2009. The BalletBoyz website.
