Russian Roulette - Round 6 - T0143570924

Fyodor Dostoyevsky was an obsessive gambler who, in desperation to pay his debtors, would bet his publisher at long odds on an early completion of his novels. These extremely tight deadlines meant his work could not be revised or edited which resulted in an atmosphere of exhilaration and momentum within passages of his novels. Inspired by Dostoyevsky’s audacious recklessness and his risk-taking in the creative process, The Cholmondeleys and the Featherstonehaughs will be rushing headlong into the breakneck construction and precipitous performance of six ribald and dizzying cabarets over ten weeks of escalating mayhem in the intimate, intoxicating, Dostoyevskian, even, setting of the Royal Vauxhall Tavern in London Town. Eight Cholmondeleys and Featherstonehaughs are joined by two special guests for each Round with The Accumulator providing live and loud music!Choreographer Lea Anderson. Music The Accumulator. present The Colquhouns and The Marjoribanks with BabbleBand in - Flag (1988 and 2006) - T0882866165

Flag was originally created by Anderson in 1988 for her contemporary dance companies [The Cholmondeleys and The Featherstonehaughs]. Cutting-and-pasting clichés of national identity to humourous effect, Flag’s iconic images, playful style and inventive choreography took the arts world by storm. The production was name-checked everywhere from national papers to underground arts magazines and Vogue. 18 years on, a new generation of talented young performers offer an exciting and vital performance of this classic piece. As [The Colquhouns and The Marjoribanks] (pronounced Cahoons and Marchbanks), Kent-based dancers aged 12 to 19 bring a new energy to Anderson’s sharp-eyed choreography. Dazzling costumes are provided by Oscar-winning designer Sandy Powell (The Aviator, Shakespeare in Love), and the piece is accompanied by BabbleBand: musicians aged 15 to 17 who have worked with composer Steve Blake to realise the original score.Choreographer Lea Anderson.

The Victims of Death in Smithereens - a cabaret inspired show which gives reality a sharp jolt. Time moves backwards and forwards as 'acts' and 'turns' are sliced, spliced and diced to create a theatrical event which is never quite what it seems. Louche yet hard-bitten...grotesque yet luscious...sexy yet repellent...Anderson and her company serve up a beguiling visual cocktail inspired by the striking imagery and designs of the 1920s cabaret of Berlin's Weimar Republic and the Dada and Bauhaus art movements.Choreographer Lea Anderson.
