Sider - T18782772

UK Premiere. The rhythmical inflections of Elizabethan theatre, like those of classical dance, have been sustained by a tradition of transmission from performer to performer for over 400 years. In Sider, these intricate patterns of speech are communicated to the performers via the soundtrack of a filmed version of a late 16th century tragedy. The adherence of the performers' actions to this vocal score instigates disquieting configurations of incongruous musicality that underscore the drama's themes of analogy and obscuration. Running time: 1hr 5mins (no interval)

I Don't Believe In Outer Space - T0167407748

I don’t believe in outer space is, as the title suggests, a very personal piece that looks at the nature of our existence through Forsythe’s eyes, both comic and tragic in places. Featuring 14 dancers and a soundtrack by Thom Willems, the work's movements reflect the world's fragility, power, and mortality at the same time.

Decreation - T64120370

Feelings of tenderness and rage pulse throughout William Forsythe’s award-winning Decreation, which was choreographed in 2003 for Ballet Frankfurt, inspired by an essay by Canadian poet Anne Carson. "Dialogues, characters and physical commands migrate through the dancers; a rapid, slithering switch from body to body. Sound is transformed, weeps and soars through the dancers’ throats and bodies, which move in a constant, oblique tension. All communication is mediated, detoured, in a seamless flow of configuration, displacement, vacuum and vision. The piece re-forms itself continually around three questions which tell of the progression of the soul. From three parts, to two parts, to one" Dana Caspersen.

You Made Me a Monster - T1254006735

William Forsythe’s You Made Me a Monster is a compelling and provocative installation performance that places dance and spoken word within a stunning visual and sonic environment. In this highly personal work chronicling a body besieged by cancer, the audience and performers are placed together on the main stage, which is covered with a jungle of skeletal structures. These anatomically impossible skeletons provide shapes and shadows that are interpreted by three dancers as a basis for their performance. Each night there will be three 50-minute performances scheduled every hour, starting at 7pm. Please note that this performance takes place in an installation environment, which may not be suitable for patrons requiring special access. Please check with Ticket Office when booking.

Three Atmospheric Studies - T01904565114

[William Forsythe] is renowned for his radical imagination, combining choreographic invention with a distinct theatrical vision. He stretches the expectations of what dance and, in particular, ballet can be, always pursuing new, unique and unconventional projects. For Three Atmospheric Studies, Forsythe has taken as his subject the imagery and fallout from the ongoing conflict in Iraq. Forsythe’s choreography always arouses high levels of expectation. This, the new version of his first work after forming The Forsythe Company in 2005, is no exception. The Room As It Was/N.N.N.N./Of Any If And/One Flat Thing, reproduced - T01895023759

This is the first, eagerly anticipated, visit to the UK by William Forsythe's newly-founded ensemble. Forsythe and his company of 18 dancers will present four works from recent repertoire, ranging from the ferocious to the sublime. They begin with the playful, rhythmical web of duets and trios that is The Room As It Was, followed by the constant, tacit, quicksilver connection of four men in N.N.N.N. The evening continues with the stunning clarity and breathtaking beauty of the duet of any if and and concludes with the detailed ferocity of One Flat Thing, reproduced, which sees a pack of bodies whip razor-like across the stage, through a maze of tables.
