T01324104907Exploring the parallelisms of different forms of dance using Bharatanatyam as the primary medium, Bhamini and her ensemble attempt to juxtapose Bharatanatyam with other regional and international dances, from the long established, like Kathak and Balinese dances, to the more recent such as Street Hip Hop. It harmonizes western and eastern movements to promote relationships that exist in the spirit of fusion dance. An avid dancer for over 15 years, Bhamini trained under late Guru Padmini Ramachandran, Ambika Sukumaran and Padma Thiagaram. Her inspiration for this event came from the synergies she had built while teaching to a diverse mix of dancers at a tap dancing school in the USA and her desire to promote Indian classical dance to the western world. | |
