A Gala Evening of Dance

This very special gala night offers the chance to experience a diverse range of dance - from ballet, to flamenco, to ballroom - in the spectacular and historic surroundings of the Tower of London. The evening includes a performance from Royal Ballet Principal Tamara Rojo, in a programme of work to be announced soon. Also featured is flamenco legend Paco Peña and his company of superb dancers, following critically acclaimed sell-out shows at Sadler’s Wells and the Peacock Theatre. Flurries of of impeccably controlled rhythms with hand claps, castanets and lightning foot taps are set against Paco Peña's sublime guitar technique across a dazzling array of solo and ensemble pieces. Also appearing are Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag, stars of the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. Their glamorous Ballroom and Latin styles combine sophistication and seduction, earning them an enthusiastic following. Launched in 1994 to critical acclaim, the Richard Alston Dance Company has quickly grown into one of Britain's most celebrated and respected contemporary dance companies. Widely regarded as one of the most inspiring and influential figures in British dance, Alston was the winner of the Ninette De Valois Award - the UK’s most prestigious dance award - earlier this year. In 2009, Richard Alston Dance Company is celebrating Alston’s 40th anniversary as a choreographer - four decades of inspirational movement and musicality. Completing the line up is Bounce. This exciting company is known for creating high energy, imaginative street-dance theatre, enjoying hit runs at both the Peacock Theatre and the Roundhouse. Tower Festival
