Widely regarded as one of the most promising young Israeli choreographers, Yasmeen Godder’s work is notable for her direct, bold and nuanced approach to movement and theme. She has already picked up a clutch of awards, including a Bessie in 2001 for her debut. Performed by the seven-strong Bloody Bench Players (four of whom danced with Batsheva Ensemble) and with live, original music from Avi Belleli, Strawberry Cream and Gunpowder is a firebrand work that draws upon symbolic journalistic images of occupied checkpoint borders, deconstructing compressed segments of violent interaction within the everyday.
