The Royal Opera House and the Covent Garden Piazza will host this year's Gala. Uniquely in 2002 and as a testimony to its New Dawn, the Carnival Trust will present the Golden Jubilee Carnival Gala - three separate programmes showcasing the numerous themes of over 40 Carnival Bands. The event will also feature the Calypso Monarch Competition where one calypsonian will be chosen to reign as Calypso Monarch 2002.
