In it's 34th year the festival brings the most diverse line-up of international artists to be found outside London or Edinburgh. For 1999 the festival includes Kennedy (experiencing Hendrix), Ladysmith Black Mambazo, stars from The Bolshoi Ballet, Courtney Pine, and a huge array of classical names as well as a new element to the Festival - Umbrella - which promises to break new ground as a youth-orientated community arts event.
