Ornette Coleman's Meltdown

Meltdown 2009 will be artistically directed by jazz legend Ornette Coleman, widely regarded as a creative genius who changed the musical landscape forever. As attested by his Pulitzer Prize-winning 2006 release Sound Grammar, a Lifetime Achievement Grammy and his stunning concert at the Royal Festival Hall in 2007, Coleman is still making musical history 50 years on from exploding onto the world with his ‘free jazz’ revolution. Ornette will perform two separate concerts in the Royal Festival Hall, inspired by the seminal albums Shape of Jazz to Come and This is Our Music.
