National Refugee Week marks the 50th anniversary of the United Nations Convention of Refugees. During the week a whole range of events highlighting the cultural contribution that refugees and asylum seekers make to life in this country will be taking place. Artists in Exile is a collective of professional, trans-national artists living in London. Events will include: a newly created theatrical piece devised and performed by the company; Visual art and installations by world-renowned sculptors, photographers, painters and multimedia artists; An explosion of musical fusions and traditions from its talented musicians and composers; Readings and poetry; A complete programme of films and video screenings by and about refugees; Workshops for and by local refugee groups and professional artists.
