Winter Song
T0
Bristol Old Vic's Theatre Royal, the oldest continually working theatre in the country, was built to hold and carry sound. As well as being an intimate performance space, it's a wonderful acoustic one, a horseshoe lined in wood, and it resonates like a violin. In a series to celebrate this unique acoustic potential of The Theatre, Tom Morris has invited a collection of extraordinary singers to play live in the space, developing the theatricality of their own performances. June Tabor, the velvet-voiced folk-legend, is creating an evening of music, poetry and song all about the sea, Bellowhead, the amazing junk-folk big band, will be previewing their new album at The Theatre prior to its recording, and Richard Thomas (writer of Jerry Springer: The Opera) offers the first airing of the score for a Sadler's Wells dance extravaganza, Shoes.
