Psychiatrist Valerie Somers disappears one night, and Detective Leon Zat is called in to investigate. His unhappy wife, suspecting Zat may be cheating on her, had been getting advice from Dr Somers, whose own marriage lies in tatters. As events unfold, everyone seems to be hiding something: five couples' lives are laid bare as the film moves inexorably to its conclusion.
