Little Otik
T0
A sly flip on Speilberg's sometimes sugary A.I., Czech surrealist Jan Svankmajer's latest focuses on a childless couple who find a tree stump that looks like a little boy. Treating it as a joke at first the husband is soon in despair as his wife becomes obsessed with her Little Otik and, perhaps through sheer will-power, turns the tree into flesh and blood. But flesh and blood are also Little Otik's favourite food! Svankmajer has again crafted a completely unique movie, somewhere between the Brothers Grimm and Luis Bunuel, that's stuffed with cruel humour, weird concepts and unsettling animation.
