Jane, mother of three daughters, is having liposuction so she'll feel better about her appearance. Her middle daughter, an aspiring actress, fears that she's not attractive enough to secure a good part. The oldest is frustrated because nobody will buy her handmade decorative miniature chairs and eight-year-old Annie, African-America and adopted, acts far too old for her age. Each is forced by an unexpected event to break out of the daily routine of worrying about themselves in order to help one other.
