Washed-up anchorman Howard Beale flips out during a live broadcast and sensationally announces his intention to commit suicide live on air -and as a result is given his own show as 'the mad prophet of the air-waves', appearing live on television to tell the real truth to the people of America. Ratings go through the roof, but then Beale uses his platform to make some startling revelations about his employers'.
