Silent film (1926). The world's first ever animated feature film, Lotte Reiniger's black, white and tinted tale of the Arabian Nights was created through some astonishing work with only a pair of scissors, whereby each figure was cut out, articulated with tiny wires, then filmed frame by frame in silhouette. The actual story concerns the brave Prince Achmed, who is forced by a powerful sorcerer to ride a magic flying horse to the enchanted island of Wak Wak and meet up with Aladdin in China.
