Vertical Influences
As part of Dance Umbrella's mission to celebrate 21st century choreography, iconoclastic ice skaters Le Patin Libre come to London's famous Alexandra Palace. In this specially commissioned double bill they share their signature mix of movement, wit, speed and grace. Le Patin Libre (Free Skate) is a five-strong collective of prize-winning skaters who are creating a new kind of ice dancing, way beyond the confines of traditional figure skating. Having started out performing on frozen ponds and canals in their hometown of Montreal, the company now come to London to present a full-length evening of work. In influences the performers play with how our body language can influence others, even with just a casual glance. In the second piece Vertical, audiences are invited to view the artists up close, with seating on the ice (dress warmly...). Alexandra Palace Ice Rink. Part of Dance Umbrella
