Geppetto, the old wood carver, sets to work making a puppet out of an old piece of wood. But something magical happens. The puppet comes to life! This is the tale of the mischievous and cheeky Pinocchio. No matter how hard he tries to be good, he just keeps getting in to trouble. And he can't hide the fact that he's telling tales because his nose gives him away by growing longer and longer. A 130-strong company of 10-19 year olds recounts Italy's most famous children's story in a vast outdoor promenade production. There'll be magic, marionettes and a moral. Not to mention a few free treats. Now we wouldn't lie about that would we? There will also be a free performance of scenes from Pinocchio in Portsmouth on Saturday 2 August, at Gunwharf Quays, time to be confirmed.
