So you want to know about senior school? Well, we have a story that's just for you. Inspired by Han's Christian Anderson's classic tale, The Emperor's New Threads takes its themes of conformity and identity, and drops them in the heart of a vibrant, multi-cultural secondary school. Written entirely in modern rhyme, the play tells the story of Dan and Trev - two students starting a new school with a tummy full of excitement and nerves! When Ben the "school bully" tries to spoil their first day, they quickly make friends with Jen - a student that's already enough of Ben's bad behaviour. But as the new friends plot their revenge they discover that it's Ben that really needed their help all along. Exploring the hopes and fears that many children have about secondary school, The Emperor's New Threads offers a honest, funny and thoughtful look at the thrilling new world of Secondary School. School performances are followed by a post-show talk explore the play's themes of conformity and cultural identity.
