A little girl struggles fiercely through the dark streets. In a vain attempt to stay warm she strikes a match, then a second and third. In the fatal cold the flames blaze to life and the friendly flickering fire guides her to fantastic Christmas visions. With each strike we are transported into her tumultuous hopes and dreams.
