A New Documentary Tradition. Stella Bruzzi's recent book challenges received notions of how documentary works, what it aims to achieve, and the assumption that most are striving to present the real as accurately as possible. She suggests documentaries ought to be viewed as negotiations between film-making and the reality that is represented, exploring ways in which such a negotiation is entered into.
