Princess Katya Galitzine has lived in St Petersburg since 1989, when it was still Leningrad and Russia was still the Soviet Union. She has visited many little-known buildings, some of which belonged to her ancestors. This lecture is a journey through the history of St Petersburg, and an account of the fascinating interiors she discovered which, in turn, provide an insight into contemporary life in Russia.
