Production details
The 'interval' will come first, during which the citizens of Gloucester and others run food stalls, side-shows, street theatre, juggling, fire-breathing, bawdy songs and money-raising activities (for charity!). As the sun sets behind the Library - the trumpets will sound Retreat and the citizens go into their homes as the soldiers man the walls. Night falls - the bugles sound Reville, dawn comes up, and the Show begins as the Cavalier army marches up the Quarter mile with banners and drums to attack the theatre defended by the Roundhead soldiers. Meanwhile, a giant siege engine is built (and collapses) to songs, cheers and jeers, accompanied by a large student orchestra, huge sound effects and spectacular lighting. This production is open to Community and Friends of Christ’s Hospital
