A Reading of a New Musical in Development.
Painted Lady is based on the extraordinary true story of an audacious maid servant who fooled 1820s high society into believing she was an exotic princess, captured by pirates and shipwrecked in Britain, without a word of English. The three script-in-hand performances of this new piece will be the culmination of a week's exploration of the musical, directed by Willmott, and forms part of a development process which will culminate in a full production in 2011/12.
