A Christmas Carol

T188104444
A Christmas Carol is the most famous book Charles Dickens ever wrote and one of the most daring. As the Ghosts spirit Scrooge from his past to his present to his future, Dickens plunges the reader cinematically from the miser's dank and creaking house in the City to riotous festivities, from cozy hearths to graveyards. And all the time the author's voice, tender, savage, magisterial, is present.

Production details

A Reading. 1853, a lone figure steps onto the platform at Birmingham Town Hall, the 2,000 strong crowd grow eager with expectation. He places a book onto the lectern and with a single breath utters the immortal line... "Marley was dead: to begin with." And so the story begins. 160 years after Charles Dickens' first performance dramatic readings of 'A Christmas Carol' continue to enchant and captivate audiences of any age. This December two actors will follow in Dickens' footsteps presenting a faithful rendition of this ever popular Christmas story speaking the words from the original novella and portraying all the iconic characters between them including; Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and of course Ebenezer Scrooge.
