Details

A Christmas Carol is the most famous book Charles Dickens ever wrote and one of the most daring. As the Ghosts spirit Scrooge from his past to his present to his future, Dickens plunges the reader cinematically from the miser's dank and creaking house in the City to riotous festivities, from cozy hearths to graveyards. And all the time the author's voice, tender, savage, magisterial, is present. A Christmas Carol was the most successful book of the 1843 holiday season. By Christmas it sold six thousand copies and is as popular today as it was over 150 years ago. Charles Dickens, through the voice of Scrooge, continues to urge us to honour Christmas in our hearts and try to keep it all the year. This classic tale will be read beautifully by David Garrett.
