One of the most distinguished poets of his generation John Heath-Stubbs first came to the forefront of English literature in the 1940s. He has held the Gregory Fellowship in Poetry at Leeds University and Visiting Professorship in English in Egypt and the USA.
Selected Poems received the Arts Council award and his epic poem
Artorius gained him the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry. Over the last 50 years he has written numerous books of poetry and of criticism the most recent being
The Sound of Light published by Carcanet. He was awarded the OBE for his services to literature.
