Production details
The second LGBT History Month special brings Britain's most famous transsexual, April Ashley, back to London for an evening of stories from her life on the gender frontline. Ever since she was outed by the Sunday People in 1961, Ashley has lived in the glare of publicity. Now, after many years spent in America and France, she returns to the UK to talk about her amazing life and times. April looks back at her Liverpool boyhood, her career as a Paris showgirl at Le Carrousel, her sex change in Casablanca in 1960, and her subsequent friendships with rock stars, royalty and the British aristocracy.
