A star of stage, screen and radio for 40 years, writer and entertainer Joyce Grenfell was one of Britain's best loved performers. A familiar face to many through her film work, most notably as Sgt Ruby Gates in the St Trinian's Ealing comedies, she is still fondly remembered today for the sparkling wit of her signature comic monologues and songs.
