In the UK, there are around two million single parents. Of these, the vast majority are mothers. Often associated with negative media stereotypes - feckless teenagers scrounging off the state and raising truants - we rarely hear the real voices of women who raise their children alone. What is the reality of being a single mother? Funny, frank and authentic, MUVVAHOOD is a one-woman verbatim theatre show based on extensive research with lone parent mothers. It tells a story of single motherhood in the 'age of austerity' when the most vulnerable members of society are facing hardships and prejudices not seen in decades.
