A tree that was cut down in 1538 marks the beginning of a fascinating tale of the origins of the cello, told and demonstrated by international performer, Angela East who will play on five different instruments. She will show how the instrument was played while marching in a procession, how music was written for the royal courts as well as the intimacy of the drawing room and the grandeur of the concert hall. Angela is a much-travelled musician herself, having performed in La Scala Milan, the Sydney Opera House, the Carnegie Hall, the Palace of Versailles and the Ancient ruins of Pompeii and Athens. She has made over 200 CD's.
