Details
We Will Mend on the Highways is a solo performance composed of elements of text, gesture, spoken word, music and movement. Taking as its core the theme of journeying 'we will mend on the highways' is based around the question 'how do you go about finding the thing the nature of which is unknown to you?' Through this question an attempt is made to find sense and completion within the unfinished journey, to explore the unknowns in life around us and to find an engagement with the hidden worlds within our own and others' realities. This performance is an exploration of what we do not know or rather 'what we do not know we know', of effort, attainment and repair and our attempts to take root and place ourselves in the world around us. Using different kinds of journeys- physical, emotional and practical - as material 'we will mend on the highways' explores the journey as something that is constantly evolving and that cannot be defined by its given start or ending. Utilising stories of the sea mixed with Japanese crying clubs and toy steam boats 'we will mend on the highways' is an intimate experience for audience and performer alike. At times funny, at others sad, at others touching this performance continues to resonate after the event by asking questions that concern every one of us.
