Jamaican born composer Eleanor Alberga, and librettist Donald Sturrock, have transformed Isabel Allende’s unabashedly romantic story into an intimate yet intensely powerful chamber opera, glowing with vivid, exotic rhythms and a rich orchestral pallet. Sung in English with English surtitles. A co-production with the Royal Opera House. Brought to the Traverse Theatre in partnership with Scottish Opera. Autumn Festival.
