Love's Luggage Lost (L'occasione fa il Iadro)

Love's Luggage Lost (L'occasione fa il Iadro)T0696664035
L'occasione fa il ladro (literally, Opportunity Makes the Thief), is an opera full of youthful energy and appealing melody. Rossini deftly sketches in his characters and then moves events along at lightning speed. It is a cunningly constructed comedy of mixed-up luggage and mixed-up identity, featuring the marvellous Don Parmenione, a larger-than-life, womanising, wine-loving, insolvent man of the world. Of course, true love triumphs in the end, and the opera concludes, as good comedies should, in a double wedding.

Production details

Experience the thrill of intimate opera as The Minotaur Music Theatre makes a welcome return to The Rosemary Branch. You may think that grand opera above a pub is a bit of a novelty but we should like to point out that we have been doing it for over ten years and take much pride in the high quality of the productions. Minotaur Music Theatre's previous triumphs at The Rosie include La Cenerentola 2004, The Bear, The Wandering Scholar, La Boheme 2005, Don Giovanni 2006, Cosi Fan Tutte and The Barber of Seville 2007. An ambitious soprano, a luggage mixup, the destructive power of the sea and an unpaid debt - four contrasting one act operas in two exciting programmes. The casts of young professional singers at the start of their careers include Rosemary Branch favourites John Savournin and Rosie Bell, as well as many outstanding newcomers. Double bill with A Man of Feeling
